Yuletide mall merriment. Despite a controversial memo stating no “recognizable Christian music” would be played during the holidays, the University Town Center Mall in Sarasota, Florida, has decided to allow it after receiving backlash. Bring on “Silent Night” and “Joy to the World”!
Any advisors on The Voice besides Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. The wholesome husband-and-wife country superstar duo are just about the most adorable thing to ever happen to NBC’s hit reality TV singing competition. Does someone have a lifetime contract handy?
Convenient confessions. In Bogota, Colombia, a shopping mall was transformed into a mass confessional as part of a “Confess-a-thon.” During the event, 120 priests administered the Sacrament of Reconciliation to shoppers.
This is brilliant- #Colombian "Confess-athon" : 350 #priests congregated at a Colombian mall to offer #confession to random shoppers in a country where approx 70% recognise as Catholic. "What we were able to show is that the merciful Jesus walks through the streets, even in a mall" 💪🏼🙌🏼💪🏼🙌🏼 #maronitesonmission #goodnews

Communication via the sea. Forget about text messaging—New Hampshire native Paula Pierce just received a message in a bottle! Written by her father 50 years ago, the waterlogged note was returned to her by a writing teacher from Utah who found it while on vacation in the Turks and Caicos.
The Bermuda Triangle de-bunking. Sorry, friends … the mystery surrounding the Bermuda Triangle has not, in fact, been solved. Although a Science Channel show purports to have all the answers, courtesy of ASU meteorology director Randall Cerveny, it was a matter of clever video editing. Cerveny maintains he has no interest in being an authority on the Bermuda Triangle.

Passion of the Christ, part deux. Director Mel Gibson has announced a sequel to the wildly popular 2004 biblical saga, explaining the follow-up will focus on the time “between the Crucifixion and the Resurrection.” Now just tell us that Jim Caviezel will return as the lead and you’ve made our day!
Blacklisting movies based on faith. Christian filmmaker Chuck Howard is suing Google for discrimination after they removed faith-based film I’m Not Ashamed from YouTube for nearly a year. Not cool, Google. Not cool.
A Ghostbusters-inspired wheelchair costume. Dad Ryan Miller builds his now 8-year-old son’s costume around the boy’s wheelchair every year. And this year’s might take the cake, ’cause little Jeremy will be cruising around in the iconic Ghostbusters Ecto-1 vehicle—complete with siren.
The great pumpkin (dis)patch. Thanks to four thieves, a lot of families in New Jersey are without pumpkins on their porches this year. Todd Kuehm, owner of a 120-year-old family-run farm, says surveillance caught him being burgled out of 200 pumpkins valued at more than $2,000.
For the collector
Religious relics. News of a tiny Pittsburgh chapel with a huge collection of religious treasures is piquing interest online—and for good reason. At St. Anthony’s Chapel, you’ll find a piece of the Crown of Thorns, a tooth of St. Anthony of Padua and many, many more verified relics.
Old-fashioned accumulation. If you’re the type who loves to shop online but hates waiting weeks for your purchases to arrive by mail, Wal-Mart may have the solution for you. The mega-retailer has built a giant tower that is essentially a vending machine for retail orders. Weird, we know.
The Pope and the poor. The Vatican has announced it is hosting a concert in November for the poor and homeless of Rome, but they aren’t just raising money—the poor have been invited by the Pope to be the guests of honor!
Interrupting others. Speaking to a crowd in St. Peter’s Square on Saturday, Pope Francis said we should all listen more and interrupt less. “True dialogue needs moments of silence in order to welcome the extraordinary gift of the presence of God in our brother,” he explained. Hear, hear!
All creatures great & small
Mini therapy horses. Get ready for some fuzzy feels, because a nonprofit who uses miniature horses for healing has gone viral. The group, which works in partnership with American law enforcement, pairs troubled souls with tiny equines as a method of trauma treatment.
Black cat taboos. It’s time to get over any lingering superstitions about black cats, you guys. Since these onyx-coated kitties are the least likely to get adopted, Thursday’s Black Cat Day was devoted to celebrating these short, dark, and furry felines.
The power of prayer. New studies out of Pew Research Center and the National Institutes of Health have found there are numerous physical benefits to prayer, including lower blood pressure, a healthier immune system, and improved self-control. Amen to that, eh?
Election Stress Disorder. Yep, that horrible feeling hanging over you this election year has actually been given a name. An APA survey revealed that 52 percent of American adults cite all of the election hullabaloo as a significant source of anxiety in their lives.
A new and improved MacBook Pro. It’s been a hot minute since Apple made any changes to its flagship laptop … until now. The tech giants just unveiled a new MBP featuring a metal-sided design, a much larger trackpad and—perhaps most notably—a Touch Bar at the top.
Vine. In somewhat surprising social media news, Twitter is killing off its short-form video app known as Vine following significant layoffs at the company. So far, existing “Vines” are safe, but you may want to back up your short-form brilliance now.
