Guess who? Before they were red carpet famous, these big stars were just as cute and goofy as the rest of us were growing up. (Hint: Taylor Swift and Gisele are both somewhere on this list!)

Sometimes all the red carpets, shiny jewelry and fancy clothing make us forget that celebrities were once silly, fresh-faced kids just like you and me. They had parents, they had dogs, and they liked Barney, that very friendly purple Dinosaur, too. One of the great things about Instagram #throwbackthursdays is that it reminds us of just that: we’re all real, and we’re all growing up way too fast.
Here, ten stars share their sweet younger selves:
Gisele shared a photo with her followers that proves she had perfected her modeling pout at a very young age.
The tennis legend
The current Wimbledon contender and all around champ loves to share family photos on her Insta account. These throwbacks to her toddler and teen years are a sweet reminder of just how far she’s come (and how much amazing muscle she’s gained)!
20 years ago I played my first professional Tennis match. I was 14. I was scared. I was not prepared for the stage. But determined I went on. Butterflies consumed my stomach leaving no space for me to eat to prepare for my match. Less than an hour later I left the court devastated in defeat. A 6-1, 6-1 loss to than Annie Miller. Basically she crushed me. Not only did I look like a novice but I looked like I did not belong anywhere on the court. However born with an innate insatiable desire to never quit I knew I would return. I would come back. I could not predict that I would win 21 Grand Slam titles and be number one in the world even 20 years later, but I did predict I would never give up. And I did not. (Oh and by the way I am still going). Now I tell you this: never give up on your dreams. It may not happen when you want it to but one day your knight in shining armor (your dream) will come true if you keep going. I leave you with this. Be positive. Be kind. And above all be humble. The child star
Now best friends with Taylor Swift, we’re not surprised that Selena Gomez was already hanging out with another famous musical star back in the day: Barney the dinosaur. Her sweet disposition shines through this photo just like it does today, when she takes the time to, say, dance with one of her sick fans.
The pregnant actress
Happily married to Ryan Reynolds with a child on the way, Blake Lively’s Instagram throwback of herself at a young age might be a glimpse of what her own little one will look like. Plus, now you probably have something in common with Blake … because who didn’t love Disney’s The Little Mermaid as a little girl?
The soulful artist
The All of Me Loves All of You artist and new dad posted a photo of himself speaking at his high school graduation. Talented and educated? You melt our hearts, John Legend.
The fashion & lifestyle mogul
Lauren Conrad has accomplished a lot in the past 12 years: she was a reality TV star, and now owns her own line of clothing and lifestyle brand. Lauren’s Instagram feed is always a beautiful array of blooms and flooded with pale sunshine. Her childhood, it seems, was no different!
The skating pro
Meryl won a gold medal for her trophy case in the 2014 Sochi Olympics, but her winning smile has been there all along. It’s lovely to see how much Meryl attributes her success to her support systems: her skating partner, and, of course, her loving family.
The pop star
What list would be complete without the uber-famous Taylor Swift? The singer, regardless of what you think of her lyrics or summer pool parties, seems to be an icon of the millennial generation. Here, in this adorable picture of baby Taylor, you can see her big personality was there right from the start.
The comedic movie star
Is that Chris Pratt wearing a fake mustache? Nope. But the family resemblance between the grown-up Guardians of the Galaxy actor and his father in this throwback photo is pretty striking. Still, here’s the most amazing thing about this photo: the caption. Chris acknowledges his family and humble beginnings, and he knows it was an essential part of building his values.
Here's a throwback. My whole family circa 1986 as we moved from Alaska to Washington State. This is somewhere on the Alaska-Canada highway. It must have been hard for my folks, who were much younger in this picture than I am now, with three kids under 12, a few hundred bucks to their name, pretty much everything we owned crammed in a little car, chasing dreams. As a kid I never understood how little we had in terms of stuff. Which is a testament to the the unimportance of stuff I guess but more importantly the love my parents had for each other and us. I'm grateful. Yesterday was my Moms 61st birthday. Thanks Mom. 👍🏼🇺🇸😊
The sassy singer
Meghan Trainor sure knows how to entertain us with her dance moves, colorful outfits, and upbeat sounds. But the Grammy-winning artist may never be able to top this adorable outfit.
