We’ve had a lot of ups and downs on social media in the last year, but here are the top ten that made us smile.

Oh, 2016, you sure were one of a kind, and you certainly had your ups and downs. Especially on social media. But now that we’ve entered 2017, let’s revisit the people, events and trends that made headlines throughout the year, and focus on the good things: the tweets that made us smile, think, or cheer. Here, a list of the most memorable tweets of the year, especially the ones that brought us to the bright side.

Adele kicked off January of last year by making us laugh with this Twitter photo of how it feels to go back to the gym after the holidays

Pope Francis began his journey into Mexico, which was unforgettable (and full of great hats)
